A Garden Seat Is To Be Sat On
So Use A Garden Seat To Enjoy Your Wildlife Garden
A garden seat should help us enjoy our Wildlife Garden.
Whether it does or not depends to a great extent on ourselves. Often we deny ourselves this joy by crowding out this simple but highly beneficial inactivity with the many projects we enjoy busying ourselves with in the garden.
Every now and then its good to remind ourselves that when we decided on the garden plan we most likely put a lot of thought into how we could keep stirring the senses with shapes, textures, colours and Scents. To keep the garden satisfying to ourselves.
We will experience this as we work and potter about in the garden and all the more so as more and more wildlife visit our wildlife friendly garden. But in many ways a garden comes to life and brings great satisfaction when we are sitting quietly on a comfortable well positioned garden seat.
Which brings us to the siting of the garden seat.
What are the best spots for garden seat areas?
If we have a small garden space we might consider choosing this area first, then working the rest of the garden plan from this point. A key factor will be deciding if we want a fixed feature or a mobile arrangement so that we can place it where we want to soak up the daily goings on in our garden.
With a larger garden we may be able to use several areas so as to have a choice depending on what time of day it is and wheres the warmest spot.
We've positioned the rustic garden seat pictured so that we see the length of our garden up to the gap in the wall which we have used as a focal point. This is also the sunniest spot in the morning, which is a big plus when having our tea and toast.
Garden Pergola Or Folding Deckchair
Depending on available space we can plan to use a simple deck chair or a permanent structure such as a garden pergola to provide ourselves with a seating area to take in what our garden has to offer.
A garden pergola does present us with the opportunity to have plants such as Clematis or Honeysuckle climbing over its trellising, adding to its attractiveness both to us and any nectar hunters in the area.
A folding deck chair can be placed amongst garden containers
or garden pots that have scented flowers in them or herbs such as Thyme and Lavender. We do ourselves a big favor when we create the place and time to sit a while and soak up the daily goings on in our garden.
As well, we have made a garden pergola seating area that looks over a small lawn directly at the raised pond. With having two raised flower beds either side, this has created a room effect when viewed from the pergola.
We also have an enclosed area at the back of the garage which we use to sit round a wood fire every so often and at other times just sit on some folding director chairs.
A Garden Hammock
One final option we will mention is having a garden hammock situated somewhere warm in the garden. This must be one of the most natural and relaxing ways to soak up the calm of a garden as highlighted by this poem entitled My Hammock.
The garden hammock is so versatile and can be sourced quite economically nowadays so that they are a viable and practical feature for most wildlife gardens.
This is one of the best gardening tips that can be given to seasoned and new gardeners - create a place for a garden seat and be sure to sit there and enjoy your wildlife friendly garden!
